Beliefs and Tenets
Our foundational convictions, rooted in Scripture, that shape our faith and practice.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God through which He has revealed Himself to man.
- 2 Peter 1:20–21; 2 Timothy 3:16
- The Bible is the infallible rule of faith and conduct: Psalm 119:11, 105; John 20:31
- Nothing must be added to, or taken from, the Word of God: Revelation 22:18–19
We believe the one true God has been revealed as the Eternal One and exists as the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Deuteronomy 6:4; Luke 3:22; Matthew 28:19–20
We believe the Lord Jesus is the eternal Son of God.
Man was created good but, by voluntary transgression, was separated from God (Romans 5:12). Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Romans 3:23–25).
The salvation experience is the spiritual and miraculous transformation that takes place when an individual repents and believes the Gospel (Mark 1:5; Romans 10:8–10; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
- Inward evidence: a direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16)
- Outward evidence: a life of righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24; Titus 2:12)
We teach that Christ instituted two ordinances: baptism by full immersion in water and the Lord’s Supper.
- 1 Corinthians 11:20–34; Matthew 28:19
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is for every believer—not only the apostles. Every believer should earnestly desire and seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
- Acts 2:38–39; Acts 1:4–5; Ephesians 5:18
- Initial physical sign: speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44–46; Acts 19:6)
- Imparts power to witness for Christ (Acts 4:31)
We believe in the various gifts of the Holy Spirit, and each believer is empowered to operate in them.
- 1 Corinthians 12:7–11
Sanctification is an act of separation from evil and dedication unto God. God is holy and requires holiness in His people; without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we obey His command, “Be ye holy, for I am holy.”
- Romans 12:1–2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Corinthians 6:17
- Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 1:16
The Universal Church comprises all true believers worldwide, redeemed by the blood of Christ, separated from the world, who believe in the Bible and practice its teachings—thus fulfilling the Great Commission. The true Church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit.
- 1 Peter 1:18–19; 2 Corinthians 6:16–18; Titus 2:11–14; Matthew 28:19–20
- Ephesians 2:20–22
A divinely called and spiritually ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for a two-fold purpose:
- To evangelize the world (Mark 16:15)
- To edify the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11–13)
God has revealed Himself as the Healer. Christ healed all who came to Him in humble faith. Healing of sickness and forgiveness of sins is provided in the atonement of Christ. Healing is by faith and obedience to the Word. Divine healing is the privilege of every believer today.
- Exodus 15:26; Matthew 8:16–17; Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24; James 5:14–15; Mark 16:18
The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation (rapture), together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, is the imminent and blessed hope of the Church.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Titus 2:13
After the millennial reign, the wicked dead shall be resurrected for final judgment before the Great White Throne. Whosoever is not found in the Book of Life shall be cast into the lake of fire.
- Revelation 20:11; Revelation 21:8
We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.
- 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1–14
